Indeed, there are also great Vietnamese artists outside there and I would like to present this very one to you guys. His paintings appear to be amazing by the first glance (which they are still at second!). But if you keep watching them for a while you soon will notice a disturbing atmosphere: Mauled bodies and malformed people are her main subjects.

Nguyen Xuan Huy was born in 1976 in Hanoi. He is one of those post-war artists who are still trying hard to overcome the trauma of the Vietnam War (1959 – 1975). Due to the fatal application of Agent Orange by the Americans thousands of Vietnamese people were forced to grow up with these fatal consequences.  This is what she tries to get out of his system and where he receives his inspiration for his paintings from:

Yue Minjun is a contemporary Chinese artist based in Beijing. He is considered to be one of the leading Chinese avant-gardists and is well known for his oil paintings depicting himself in various settings. One of his trademarks is to show people with a distorting and estranging laughter.
